32 Pianos Tour - Week 5
Week 5: Oct 12- Oct 18
Gigs: 1 (Cavan)
Musicians involved: 2 (Gerry Grennan, Kelan Walsh)
A family wedding at the weekend so a quiet week gigs-wise. We are now at the half-way point of the tour time-wise. 5 weeks done, 5 to go. However, I have only played 10 gigs and there are 22 more to go, so the second half of this tour will be a lot busier!!
Starting this week – 5 gigs between now and Sunday – in Mayo, Galway, Cork, Waterford and Kilkenny!
Back to last week first – we had a great night last Tuesday in MacNean House, Blacklion, Co. Cavan. A sold-out house is always great to see, although maybe the lure of some canapes and wine courtesy of Neven Maguire helped that!!
Gerry Grennan is well used to the gig at this stage, but the two of us really enjoyed having Kelan Walsh (the man who played saxophone with us at the Sugar Club) back with us this time. It was a very enjoyable gig and the three of us will be playing together on both the Mayo and Galway gigs this coming week.
On Wednesday I hit the road to Dublin to record a few tunes and an interview with Sean Rocks for the RTE Arena programme which will go out on Tuesday 20th Oct. Sean is as much of a gentleman off air as he comes across on air and it was a real pleasure chatting to him.
Thursday brought the first review of the album – HotPress magazine gave it a very fair review and that was great to hear. You can read it, and a questions and answers session I did with the Examiner last week too elsewhere on the News page of this website.
So a busy week this week as I said – Ballina on Wed, Galway city on Thurs, Cork and Waterford on Sat and Kilkenny on Sunday.
Again – please let any friends or family who are in these counties know about the gigs.
Thanks a million - Kieran.
