Theme Nights make a welcome Return ....
I am delighted to announce that after an 8-month absence, the ever-popular Kieran Quinn Theme Nights will make a return in January 2016.
After the huge success of the Film Theme Nights last May in the Hawkswell Theatre, I'm thrilled to be returning there again to work once more with Marie and all the team.
On the 21st January, along with a star-studded house band, I will present A Night at the Grand Ole Opry, featuring the best of country, bluegrass and old-time music, as heard at this iconic Nashville show for the last 90-odd years.
Artists that have performed here include Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, Bill Monroe, Dolly Parton, Garth Brooks and the Dixie Chicks.
As always, many of Sligo's finest musicians will combine to bring the audience their favourite pieces of music from these particular genres. Previous performers include Sandy Kelly, Cathy Jordan, Tabby Callaghan, Steve Wickham, Joe Hunt, Seamie O'Dowd, Rackhouse Pilfer and the list goes on and on.
Tickets (€20) on sale now. I'm very happy to say that all proceeds from the gig will go to the Hawkswell Theatre, Sligo. It is such a valuable resource for our town, and I am thrilled that we as representatives of the musical community in Sligo can show our support for it in this way. I would ask and encourage others to do the same.
N.B. These tickets always sell out fast, so don't leave it long.
See below a video of Seamie O'Dowd performing with me and the Sligo Academy of Music Sinfionetta at our last theme night.
